On July 22, it was announced that five short dramas featuring readers of the popular manga “ONE PIECE” will be released on a special website and its official YouTube channel from August 30. The film will be directed by Mika Ninagawa and will feature a cast including Kengo Kora, and the theme song will be a new song by Radwimps.
This was planned to commemorate the release of the 100th volume of the manga on September 3 and the 1000th episode of the anime on November 21. It is a short drama co-produced by Shueisha and Toei Animation.
Serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since July 22, 1997, this is a marine adventure romance about the “One Piece” left behind by the legendary pirate king, Gol D. Roger. The story is about Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who eats the Devil Fruit “Gomu Gomu no Mi” and becomes a rubber man with the special ability to stretch his body like rubber. The series has sold over 490 million copies worldwide (400 million copies in Japan and over 90 million copies overseas), and the TV animation series has been broadcast since 1999 and a live-action drama is currently being planned in Hollywood.
