Shueisha announced on March 31 that the total number of copies of the manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen” (Akutami Gege) has surpassed 40 million. In the last year and a half, the number of copies has increased more than 16 times.
The work has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2018. When the TV anime adaptation was announced in November 2011, the total number of copies sold was about 2.5 million, but it has rapidly increased since the broadcast in October 2020. It sold 10 million copies at the end of the same month, 20 million copies on January 13, 2021, 30 million copies on February 9, and surpassed 40 million copies on March 31. On the 2nd of this month, the number was 36 million copies, so although the pace has slowed down somewhat, it is still the top momentum in the publishing industry.
