The animated film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train”, which opened in the US on April 23 and debuted at No. 2, is sure to turn things around and take the top spot this weekend.
It recorded $6.4 million in box office revenue over the three-day weekend, surpassing the $6.2 million of “Mortal Kombat,” which topped the list last week, according to Variety magazine. The final results will be announced on 3rd May. Godzilla vs. Kong” is in third place with $2.7 million.
Also, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” grossed $34.1 million in two weeks, making it the third-best animated film released in the U.S., surpassing the $30 million of “Dragon Ball Super：BROLY” in 2018.
