On March 3, Gotouge Koyoharu, the creator of the manga “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” which has also been made into a movie, was selected to receive the Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists (Media Arts Division) for fiscal 2020. The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” was serialized in the weekly Shonen Jump magazine and became a huge hit with both the TV animation and the movie, creating a huge boom.

Thank you very much for awarding me this prestigious prize. I am very grateful. There is only so much that one person can do, and I believe that it is very little.

I was honored to be able to play a part in the creation of a large work of art with the efforts of many people. I am touched by the fate of the wonderful people I have met through this work. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved, and to everyone who has supported me.
