The film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train”, which broke Japan’s all-time box office record with 36.55 billion yen as of January, won the Best Animated Film award. Together with the topical award for Best Picture and the Best Music Award for Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, the film won three awards.
Mr. Atsuhiro Iwakami, Representative Director of Aniplex, said, “As someone who is involved in the entertainment industry, I am very happy to receive the Topical Award. Looking back on the past year of “Demon Slayer”, it may seem strange for me to say this, but I think it was a work that deserved the award.
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” was seen by many people, and the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge was a big hit, and there were various merchandising and corporate collaborations, so I think it was a work that entertained fans all over Japan. We, the animation production team, would like to continue working on this wonderful work in the future.
On February 14, the second season of the TV anime “Demons Slayer:Kimetu no Yaiba, Entertainment District Arc.” was announced. Mr. Iwakami said, “At ufotable (the production studio), we are currently working on the sequel to the Mugen Train Arc, so we will continue to work on it so that fans of Blade of the Demon can enjoy it. Thank you very much for your time today.
